We are seeking an Assistant Dance Director to join our team! You will provide high-level administrative support for an Executive at our company.

Responsibilities:

  • Administrative:
    • Manage student/parent communications, registrations, and inquiries
    • Assist with pre-planning activities
    • Oversee bi-monthly payroll
    • Support registration, recital organization, and promotional activities
    • Oversee Dance Guild volunteers
  • Artistic and Educational:
    • Teach various dance classes on multiple days
    • Assist with student and faculty placement
    • Coordinate summer programs, workshops, and special instructional events
    • Mentor student and adult faculty
    • Run rehearsals for productions
    • Open/close studio on various class and rehearsal days as needed
  • Production Support:
    • Assist with production planning for Lafayette Ballet Company
    • Coordinate backstage logistics and volunteer scheduling
    • Help manage costuming, performance preparations, and post-performance
      laundering, organizing, storing, etc.
    • Facilitate community outreach and event participation
  • Compensation:
    • Two weeks of paid vacation annually (increasing to three weeks after five years)
    • Tuition compensation for dependent children of employees for non-private classes (taxable)
    • Wellness stipend $300/month
  • Work Conditions:
    • Flexible off-season scheduling
      • Primarily summers and holidays post-production
    • Weekly hours fluctuate with production needs
      • Much of the weekend time will be with the three specific weekend productions:
        • Nutcracker (first weekend in December)
        • Spring ballet (generally March)
        • recitals in May
    • Availability of many evenings and weekends
      • Primary contact with students/parents will be in the evenings
    • Onsite and offsite work as needed

​Preferred Qualifications:

  • Dance education and performance background, with a strong emphasis on classical ballet training and/or bachelor’s or master’s degree in dance, Dance Education, or a related field
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience in arts education or performance management
  • Local, non-commute, as availability needs will vary
  • Knows the market
  • Basic sewing skills for pointe shoes and costuming needs
  • Efficient with time management

Lafayette Center for Dance (LCD) began in August 2010 in LaGrange, Georgia. Starting with about 85 students, LCD faculty began the journey of sharing their love of dance with the children of the Troup County community. Since, LCD has grown to over 200 students and a staff of 15+ wonderful Dance Educators and Student Teachers.
