Job Description

Overview:

Musicians Playground is looking for a motivated, organized, and personable Assistant Manager to support our mission of providing a fun, engaging, and welcoming environment for adult music hobbyists. The ideal candidate will have experience in customer service, project management, and administration, with a preference for those who have worked in high-touch, membership-based environments such as gyms, private clubs, spas, or salons. This position requires a strong ability to communicate, multi-task, and drive revenue through sales support. The Assistant Manager will work closely with the Operations Manager and have the potential to grow into a larger role based on performance.

Responsibilities:

Customer Support

  • Manage customer inquiries and support needs via email, phone, and in-person interactions.
  • Provide a warm, welcoming environment for clients and visitors in the space. 

Sales & Revenue Support

  • Assist with sales efforts, including setting appointments, welcoming walk-ins, and potentially handling discovery calls.
  • Conduct follow-ups for intro weeks to maximize client retention and engagement.

Team Management

  • Train, supervise, and support junior administrative team members, ensuring a cohesive and efficient team environment.
  • Lead team meetings to communicate goals, provide updates, and address challenges.

Teacher & Scheduling Support

  • Assist teachers with scheduling, rescheduling, and room/resource allocation as needed to ensure smooth operations.
  • Onboarding & Training
  • Help onboard new team members and teachers, ensuring they are well-equipped to contribute to Musicians Playground’s mission. 

Event Planning & Execution

  • Oversee the planning and execution of special events, such as Happy Hour and Kids Showcase, ensuring each event runs smoothly and is well-attended.

Account Management 

  • Conduct regular billing audits, handle credit checks, address missed payments, and manage client terminations as needed.

Space Oversight

  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization within the space.
  • Monitor inventory, replace or repair damaged equipment, and ensure the space is safe and welcoming.

Required Skills

  • Ability to stay organized, manage time efficiently, and handle multiple responsibilities.

Communication

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients, team members, and teachers effectively.

Personality

  • Outgoing, personable, and able to contribute to a positive, fun atmosphere.

Prioritization & Multi-Tasking

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Revenue-Driven

  • Experience supporting sales and driving revenue through customer engagement and follow-ups.

Past Experience:

Project Management

  • Experience in managing projects or initiatives.

Customer Service

  • Proven customer service skills, ideally in a client-facing role.

Administrative Role

  • Experience in administrative duties, particularly in a team environment.

Relevant Industry Experience

  • Familiarity with businesses modeled similarly to a gym or recreational facility is a plus.

Schedule:

Standard Hours

  • Saturdays 10:00 AM–4:30 PM
  • Sundays 10:30 AM–4:30 PM

Special Events

  • Must be available for occasional Friday evening (6 PM–9 PM) and Sunday (10 AM–1 PM) events, approximately 10 times per year.

On Call Requirements

  • Available for emergency coverage if needed.

Compensation:

Hourly Rate

  • $25–$30/hour based on experience.
