As the Senior Director of People & Culture, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our company and driving our people strategy forward. You will be responsible for attracting, developing, and retaining top talent while fostering a supportive and welcoming workplace environment. This role reports directly to the COO and will collaborate closely with the executive team to ensure our people and culture initiatives align with our business goals and values.

What you'll be doing:

Strategic Leadership:
  • Lead the strategy and execution of all People & Culture initiatives for the company in Canada and the USA
  • Work with the leadership team to evolve the company's structures and talent strategies for short and long-term scalability
Talent Acquisition:
  • Oversee and implement recruitment processes to attract and retain top talent. This includes designing hiring strategies, overseeing onboarding processes, and managing employee development programs.
Employee Relations:
  • Handle employee relations issues, resolve conflicts, and promote a positive work environment by working closely with managers and employees to address concerns and foster a supportive and inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued and respected.
  • Organize employee events and implement recognition programs.
Performance Management:
  • Develop and implement performance evaluation systems, provide feedback to employees, and ensure that performance management processes are fair and effective.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Manage compensation and benefits programs to ensure they are competitive and aligned with industry standards. This may involve designing incentive programs, managing payroll, and overseeing benefits administration.
Training & Development:
  • Identify training needs within the organization and develop programs to enhance employee skills and capabilities. This includes leadership development, technical training, and career development initiatives
Legal Compliance:
  • Ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations at local, state, and federal levels. This includes staying up-to-date with labor laws, conducting audits, and implementing policies to mitigate legal risks.
HR Metrics & Analytics:
  • Use data and analytics to assess HR initiatives' effectiveness, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to improve organizational performance.
  • Manage quarterly and annual audits for the company
  • Develop and implement all policies and procedures for the People & Culture department and ensure consistency across the company in Canada and USA

Who we're looking for:
  • Proven experience as an HR leader or Director of People & Culture, preferably in a fast-paced startup or high-growth environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, CPHR, etc)
  • 10+ years of Human Resources experience providing all end-to-end HR support to various business units and their teams
  • Experience with modern HR, Payroll, ATS Systems
  • Strong culture and values-focused leader who is able to drive performance culture - you support and enable team members to thrive in their role
  • Able to handle stressful situations calmly and can coach leadership through complex problems and difficult decisions
  • Deep understanding of Employment Standards and employment equity regulations
