Job Description

  Job Summary  

We are seeking a dynamic hospitality professional to become the Hotel Manager of The Doyle Hotel in Charlottesville, VA. The Hotel Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of daily operations for our 80-room boutique hotel with a team of approximately 12-15 team members, while ensuring the highest standards of quality, guest satisfaction, and operational performance. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a passion for hospitality. 

The Hotel Manager will report directly to the Regional Operations Manager, and be a core part of a small, dynamic and entrepreneurial company. This role is on-property. 

Key Responsibilities  

Team Leadership:  

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to all hotel staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment. 
  • Hire, train, and mentor staff, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability. 
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and support professional development initiatives. 
  • Promote effective communication and collaboration across all teams. 
  • Uphold and model the company's values, service standards, and culture. 
  • Ensure teams understand and implement the brand’s service philosophy. 

Operations Management:  

  • Manage daily operations across all internal operational departments: housekeeping, maintenance, front office , and relationships with 3rd party partners such as F&B tenants & valet — ensuring efficient and effective management practices. 
  • Work cross-functionally with Blue Suede’s Virtual Operations and off-property corporate team, ensuring seamless execution throughout the entire hotel. 
  • Develop and implement schedules, ensuring optimal staffing aligned with occupancy and operational demands. 
  • Oversee adherence to safety protocols, cleanliness, and facility maintenance. 
  • Ensure all properties are well-maintained, safe, and compliant with health and safety regulations. 
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs and manage relationships with external service providers. 
  • Oversee property systems, including remote door access control, network connectivity, security camera system, and virtual task management system. 
  • Serve as ‘Manager on Duty’ (MOD) outside of normal business hours if/when required for emergencies or otherwise. 
  • Step in to lead and support frontline operations during peak periods, staff shortages, or emergencies. 

Guest and Customer Service:  

  • Oversee all aspects of on-property guest services and satisfaction, ensuring standards of hospitality excellence. 
  • Act as the public face of the hotel and primary point of contact for guest concerns when needed on property, implementing resolution strategies and maintaining brand standards. 
  • Monitor and respond to guest feedback, driving continuous improvement in service delivery. 

 

Inventory Management:  

  • Oversee the procurement, tracking, and replenishment of operational supplies, ensuring optimal inventory levels to support daily operations. 
  • Conduct regular inventory audits to minimize waste, identify discrepancies, and enhance cost efficiency. 
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to negotiate contracts and maintain quality standards. 
  • Implement inventory management systems to streamline operations and support forecasting efforts. 

Financial Management:  

  • Analyze performance data, including budgets, revenue, and operational efficiency metrics. 
  • Develop strategies to enhance profitability while maintaining high service standards. 
  • Conduct quality audits and compliance reviews in partnership with leadership. 

Qualifications  

  • Proven success in hotel operations, with expertise in housekeeping or guest services.
  • Minimum of 1 year of housekeeping experience previously in career. 
  • Advanced or Fluent Spanish language skills highly preferred 
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff. 
  • Experience with and willingness to learn technology-based applications: Blue Suede Hospitality Group operates a tech-forward guest experience. Knowledge of and managing in a tech-forward operational environment will be critical for success, including:
  • Understanding how to setup task management templates in online systems
  • Communicating to internal team members via messaging applications 
  • Troubleshooting remote access control issues
  • Knowledge of and troubleshooting building connectivity issues
  • Knowledge of financial reporting and operational analysis. 
  • Bachelor's degree in Business disciplines, Hospitality, or related field preferred.
