Summary/Objective:

The HVAC Apprentice position is a full-time, paid opportunity for individuals to gain skills in heating and air-conditioner installation and service. Apprentices will receive hands-on, on-the-job training from experienced HVAC journeymen technicians, supplemented by company-sponsored, related training courses. The HVAC Apprentice role involves assisting with the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems across various project sites. This position places a strong emphasis on adhering to safety protocols and contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the installation of HVAC equipment, including air conditioning units, heating systems, and ductwork.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as changing air filters, cleaning coils, and checking refrigerant levels under supervision.
  • Support troubleshooting and minor repairs in HVAC systems to ensure efficient operation.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Collaborate with team members and other trades on job sites to achieve project goals.
  • Assist in troubleshooting HVAC control systems.
  • Maintain tools and equipment to ensure they are in safe operating condition.
  • Participate in classroom and on-the-job training sessions as part of the apprenticeship program.
  • Perform other related duties or tasks as assigned or required.

Qualification, Competencies and Requirements

  • Demonstrate an ability and willingness to participate in an approved HVAC apprenticeship training program.
  • Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (such as a GED).
  • Must be a U.S. C or eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have been a resident of Guam for more than one (1) year before entry into the program.
  • Mayor’s Verification must be submitted upon hire to confirm your residency status.
  • Must commit to attending at least two (2) classes per week, as determined by the apprenticeship program standards, while maintaining a 40-hour weekly work schedule with PFM.

Work Environment

  • Work outside in various conditions including heat, humidity, rain, dust, noise and cold
  • Must be able to lift 20-30 pounds at times
  • Must be willing to work between multiple worksites

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, hourly position. Hours of Operation are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. However, due to operational needs, may be required to work before or after normal hours of operations, on weekends or holidays.

No travel is expected for this position.
