Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with registered nurses to deliver care in a safe, healing environment.
• Communicate effectively and carry out delegated tasks under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Document data and report observations and patient concerns to the registered nurse.
• Ensure safety precautions are observed, including call light accessibility and bed alarms.
• Obtain and record patients' vital signs.
• Monitor patients and report any signs of concern promptly.
• Respond promptly to all call lights.
• Assist patients with mobility and daily activities such as bathing and dressing.
• Collect specimens for lab tests and provide basic patient transport.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for patients and staff.
• Participate in Purposeful Hourly Rounding and Bedside Shift Report as directed.
• Perform direct and indirect patient care duties as assigned.
• Maintain unit records and order routine supplies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire or transfer into position.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• One (1) year experience in acute or long-term care.
• Completion of approved CNA, PCT, or paramedic (EMT-P) certification, including BLS, or currently enrolled in nursing school.
• Experience in Phlebotomy or completion of a Phlebotomy course.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
